Ricky Gervais

Hi all,

The new job is going well and I just have enough time to let you know that Ricky Gervais will be resurrecting his podcasts (did they ever cease) with three special broadcasts. Details are in the picture. More Ricky stuff here.

Keeping the comedian vibe, here is some Dane Cook (again) and after watching the BBC2 special, I am even more in love with the late, great Richard Pryor (watch here).

Take it easy,

John

The Thin White Duke

This might be my last post for a while as I am starting my new job on Thursday and I don't think blogging at work in my first few weeks is such a good move.

Thin White Duke is the remix persona of Stuart Price (producer, Madonna's new album). For the last year or so he's been lending his skills to a number of indie and dance songs including The Killers, Royskopp and Starsailor. You may know him in some of his various other forms - Zoot Woman, Les Rythmes Digitales, Jacques Lu Cont.

Below are some examples of his work. What you get with the TWD are solid dance tunes which build to a electronic(a) crescendo. Hear for yourself...

No Doubt -- It's My Life (Thin White Duke remix)

Fischerspooner -- Just Let Go (Thin White Duke remix)

The Killers -- Mr Brightside (Thin White Duke remix) (extended)

The Killers -- When You Were Young (Thin White Duke remix)

Royksopp -- What Else is There (Thin White Duke remix)

Read more about him here.

South Park & Family Guy

Hi,

I just wanted to add a couple of sites I've found that have all the South Park and Family Guy episodes to view. Remember to check out Dane Cook though cos he's funny... and isn't a cartoon.

For Family Guy go here
For South Park go here

Dane Cook

Dane Cook is an American comedian who has been around for a while now but has only come onto many people's radar this past year. The picture is of him kissing Charlize Theron's arse. I've given you some links so you can find out more about him -

His official website
His Wikipedia entry

He also came up with the Super Finger (Su-Fi) which treds the fine line between lame and great. Read about that here

Below is some audio so you can judge for yourself...

Student Indie Disco, go go go!!!

I read in the newspaper (and when I say newspaper I mean the Metro, which isn't a newspaper at all really) that some students have been asked what their favourite tunes to cut rug to are.

The top three were:

1) Arctic Monkeys -- I Bet That You Look Good on the Dance Floor
2) The Killers -- Mr Brightside
3) Kaiser Chiefs -- I Predict a Riot

The top ten can be found here

This made me think about my top three. It looks like this...

1) The Killers -- Mr Brightside (pure po-going euphoria)
2) The Rapture -- House of Jealous Lovers (1...2...3...4)
3) Pulp -- Mis-Shapes (the best hand gestures song ever made)

Leave some comments (for once) tell me your top 3!
